An 18-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with recent acts of vandalism in North Lawrence, including damage to a bus stop decorated with Indigenous art.
Police arrested Mixon Edward Spreier, 18, of Lawrence, at around 4 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of multiple counts of criminal damage to property, according to the Douglas County Jail booking logs.
A social media post Thursday from the Lawrence Police Department said that in addition to the vandalism of the bus stop, at least 12 windows on nine vehicles and a piece of construction equipment were damaged. Police previously said repairs to the bus stop could cost as much as $5,000, as the Journal-World reported.
The post also said police have identified a second suspect and located additional vandalism in the area that is believed to be connected to the other incidents. The second suspect has not been arrested, according to the post.
Spreier is being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond, according to the jail booking log.
