Emergency vehicles are seen in the intersection at Kansas Highway 10 and West 27th Street on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023. K-10 was shut down after 4 p.m. Monday as crews worked the scene of a serious injury accident.

A Lawrence man was killed Monday in a highway crash that also injured two women.

Paul C. Duncan, 58, was driving a 2023 Nissan Sentra eastbound on Kansas Highway 10 just before 4 p.m. when a 2017 Dodge SUV driven by 27-year-old Natiya D. Williams, of Lawrence, was traveling westbound, crossed the centerline for an unknown reason and struck Duncan’s vehicle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log.

Williams was traveling with three children in the car. She was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center with suspected serious injuries, according to the log. The condition of the children in the car was not included in the report.

A third vehicle driven by Angela D. Chance, 44, of Lawrence, then drove over debris from the first collision causing her to crash. Chance was taken to LMH Health with minor injuries, according to the report.

The three drivers all were wearing seat belts, according to KHP.

A life flight helicopter was seen leaving the scene around 5 p.m.

The crash shut down the highway and limited traffic flow near the crash between U.S. Highway 59 (Iowa Street) west to Wakarusa Drive/West 27th Street, as the Journal-World reported.
