Douglas County Sheriff’s Office seeks person of interest in connection with shooting death of a dog and a robbery

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest in connection with the shooting death of a dog and a robbery.

The man sought by deputies is Marcus Knight, 48, of Lawrence, according to a post from the office on social media. He is wanted in connection with an incident on April 28 just before 7 a.m. in an undeveloped area in the county north of Burcham Park. A robbery had been reported in the area, and when deputies arrived they discovered that a dog had been shot. The dog later died from its injuries.

The office asks anyone with information about Knight’s whereabouts to call the sheriff’s office at 785-841-0007, or residents may report anonymously to Douglas County Crimestoppers at 785-843-8477.
