A Lawrence man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing that was reported in December, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.

Christopher Coty Maier, 35, was arrested at around 7:45 a.m. Friday by Lawrence police in the 900 block of Vermont Street, according to the booking log. Court records show that Maier has yet to be formally charged with the crime.

Maier’s arrest is in connection with an incident on Dec. 28, 2022, when police responded to a report of a stabbing on Maine Street.

As the Journal-World previously reported, a man arrived at LMH Health just after 4 p.m. and told police that a man had stabbed him as he was exiting the walking trail from the park just north of the hospital on Maine Street. A post on the Lawrence Police Department’s social media accounts at the time said that the man’s injuries were not life threatening.

The next day, police released a description of the suspect as a bald, white male with tattoos, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, carrying a backpack and wearing necklaces and a tactical vest over black and gray clothing.

Maier has previously been convicted in Douglas County for robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated assault, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records. He is being held at the Douglas County Jail without bond.
