Brandon Snow appears on June 5, 2024, in Douglas County District Court.
A Lawrence man who is alleged to have chased a couple on the Kansas River levee trail with an ax in 2023 has been arrested again while on bond, this time on suspicion of domestic battery.
Brandon Eugene Snow, 25, is charged in Douglas County District Court with one misdemeanor count of domestic battery, according to charging documents. The incident is alleged to have occurred around 9:30 p.m. on March 6. The jail booking log lists Snow’s residence as 200 Indiana St., which is the site of a homeless encampment near Burcham Park.
In his other ongoing case, Snow is accused of chasing a couple with an ax on the North Lawrence levee trail near the city-sanctioned homeless camp in July 2023. The couple had been taking photos of the camp because they believed it was encroaching on the Kaw Drainage District, for which one of them was a board member, as the Journal-World reported.
Snow’s trial in this case was originally scheduled for December 2024, but it was delayed after a law enforcement witness for the state became unavailable. Then, in January, Snow’s attorney, Razmi Tahirkheli, told the court he was pursuing a plea agreement with the state, according to court records.
Snow is next scheduled to appear in court on March 18. He is currently free on a $5,000 own-recognizance bond in both cases, meaning he was not required to pay any money to be released from jail.
