Three men were arrested recently in connection with a reported armed robbery, and each has been charged this week in Douglas County District Court.

Police arrested 21-year-olds Lawson Ray Marshall, of De Soto, and Patrick Quinn Noonan, of Linwood, Saturday night in the 3900 block of Clinton Parkway. Isaak Alvin Torkelson, 20, was arrested Tuesday morning at the address listed as his home in Lawrence, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.

The alleged armed robbery was reported to police just after 6 p.m. Thursday, March 19, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Patrick Compton said via email at the time. Officers were called to the 2900 block of Missouri Street, and although details were unclear at that time, witnesses told police they observed two males in a physical altercation and one produced a handgun, Compton said.

The alleged victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Compton said, and no arrests had been made.

Marshall and Noonan were both charged Monday with attempted aggravated robbery, a felony. The charging documents in their cases allege that they pointed a gun at a man and demanded money from him.

Torkelson was charged Wednesday with aggravated robbery, a felony, for allegedly stealing the man’s phone while threatening him with a hammer, or in the alternative, inflicting harm on the man during the course of a robbery.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office declined the Journal-World’s request for the men’s booking photos.

All three are listed as white males in the Douglas County Jail’s online records. Marshall is described as 6 feet tall with brown hair and hazel eyes; Noonan as 5 feet, 8 inches with brown hair and brown eyes; and Torkelson as 5 feet, 7 inches with blond hair and blue eyes.

Dorothy Kliem, trial assistant for the Douglas County district attorney’s office, said via email Wednesday that at this time those three were the only people associated with the incident.

Marshall had been charged in September 2019 in connection with an alleged armed robbery in an apartment complex parking lot in southwest Lawrence, the Journal-World reported. He had allegedly threatened a man and a woman with a knife before taking an undisclosed amount of cash. However, the case was later dismissed without prejudice because of “witness availability.”

At first appearances on Monday and Wednesday, judges set bond for each of the three men at $50,000 cash or surety. All remained in custody as of Thursday morning, and their next court appearances are scheduled for June 2.
