Prosecutors have dropped a case against a Lawrence man who had been charged in connection with a reported robbery in an apartment parking lot.
Lawson R. Marshall, 20, of Lawrence, had been arrested Sept. 19 on suspicion of armed robbery, jail records showed. He was charged the next day in Douglas County District Court with aggravated robbery for allegedly threatening a man and a woman with a knife and taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
However, the state moved to dismiss the case because of “witness availability,” according to a motion filed last month. The dismissal is without prejudice, meaning prosecutors could file the charge again.
The alleged incident occurred around 10 p.m. Sept. 15 in a parking lot in the 4100 block of West 24th Place, according to a Lawrence Police Department news release sent the following day.
