Motorcyclist expected to fully recover after crash in Lawrence

A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a wreck Wednesday morning is expected to make a full recovery, according to Lawrence police.

The motorcyclist, a 44-year-old Lenexa man, was eastbound on West Sixth Street when he rear-ended an SUV that was stopped at a red light at the intersection with Kentucky Street, Patrick Compton, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department, said via email Thursday.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries in the crash, Compton said. He was flown to an area hospital, but as of Thursday morning was expected to make a full recovery, Compton said.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, Compton said.
