The Lawrence Police Department will be participating in the DEA's Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

If you have expired or unwanted prescription drugs, Lawrence police will safely dispose of them for you this weekend as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s annual Take Back Day.

Police will be collecting the drugs at their headquarters at 5100 Overland Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25. The collection is anonymous, the department said in a release, and the goal is to prevent these medications from inadvertently harming someone.

“Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands,” the DEA’s website says. “That’s dangerous and often tragic.”

The Lawrence Police Department is one of thousands of agencies across the country that participate in Take Back Day, and hundreds of tons of drugs are collected nationwide each year. To find out more, visit dea.gov/takebackday.
