KU students to have featured show in KC Design Week festivities
About 100 students from the University of Kansas’ School of Architecture & Design will have their work featured in a Kansas City event on Friday.
KU students are hosting a special show from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday as part of the KC Design Week festivities. Both individual and group projects in the area of architecture, interior architecture, industrial design, photography, animation & illustration, and visual communication design will be included in the show. Attendees will have a chance to meet students and hear about their design projects.
The 15-year old KC Design Week features a series of events throughout the metro area to bring together designers and architects from throughout the region. This year’s event includes programs on Kansas City’s historical development connected to the Missouri River, Hallmark Cards’ art collection, high-end furniture brand Castilleja Studio, and a design dash event where designers complete a project in an hour’s time, among others.
The KU student showcase will take place at MMTH Creative Studio, 103 W. 19th Street in Kansas City, Mo.. The event is free for the public to attend, but attendees are suggested to secure a ticket beforehand at kcdesignweek.org.
Design students from Pittsburg State and Kansas State University also will be hosting student shows during the KC Design Week festivities. A full listing of events and locations can be found on the KC Design Week website.
