KU center offers workshop on being an ally to undocumented immigrants

The University of Kansas’ Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies will host “Allyship with Undocumented Immigrants: A Community Workshop” on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Spencer Museum of Art.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, has limited space. Advance registration is recommended and can be completed online.

It will be led by KU faculty and staff who work with marginalized students and is inspired by a piece in the Spencer’s exhibition “knowledges.” The piece, “STRATA: Mantras,” by artist Danielle Roney, is a large-scale sculpture that translates voice recordings from migrants in and around Lawrence into animations of light.
