Several newly built houses in Lawrence will be on display during the fall Parade of Homes to highlight new designs and features in home-building.
Lawrence residents will have the chance to view 18 featured homes from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and also on Oct. 6-7. The homes are located in southeast, south-central and western Lawrence.
The event is free and open to the public.
Visitors can see the list and map of the homes on the Parade of Homes website. They can visit any home during the event and a realtor or a builder will be available to show it.
Bobbie Flory, executive director for the Lawrence Home Builders Association, said the purpose of the parade was to showcase the craftsmanship of local builders and current trends in housing features and design.
“The community is invited to visit the parade homes whether they are in the market for a new home, looking at popular and current features such as paint colors, cabinetry, windows for their existing home, or just curious about what’s new in the neighborhood,” Flory said.
Of the 18 homes, 14 are houses and four are town houses, Flory said. Seven of the homes are valued in the $200,000 range. The highest priced home is $795,000.
“There are also several very elaborate homes featuring design trends such as multiple living areas, two master suites, stand-alone tubs, heated tile floors, an all-seasons room with a fireplace, mother-in-law quarters and a farmhouse kitchen,” Flory said.
Some other features on display include open living spaces, dedicated office spaces and covered patios.
Flory said the Lawrence Home Builders Association displays the homes with an emphasis on education.
“In addition to learning about the homes, visitors can also learn more about the builder and his style of building in comparison to other homes on the market,” Flory said.
