Douglas County’s Geographic Information Systems Department has launched a new “Geoportal,” a collection of GIS-related content like web applications, maps and data produced by county GIS staff.
On the portal, the public can view interactive maps of road closures, properties, voting precincts, taxing districts, controlled burns and more. On top of that, users can download the data and maps available on the portal for free. Standard road maps and ownership maps, meanwhile, can be purchased.
According to the county’s monthly newsletter sent on Friday, GIS services are currently being utilized to inform a number of county projects. That includes the development of an Open Space Plan and Climate Action Plan, criminal justice data dashboards and maps of rental availability.
“I am excited to introduce our new Geoportal,” Douglas County GIS Manager Tyler Fleming said in the newsletter. “Through this site, you can find and interact with our public web applications, download public documents, download GIS data and answer your questions. GIS is continually evolving, so be on the lookout for new content.”
