The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has closed the South Park wading pool for the rest of the summer.

The pool had been scheduled to be open through Aug. 7, but Parks and Rec closed the pool for the season because of a maintenance issue, according to a city news release. The news release did not specify what the issue was.

The Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will also close soon for regularly scheduled maintenance. The pool will be closed July 25-Aug. 15 for annual maintenance and will reopen with fall operating hours on Aug. 16. While the indoor pool is closed the hours at the outdoor pool will be expanded.

From July 25 to Aug. 15, the hours at the Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., will be as follows:

Morning lap swim and water workouts:

10:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Friday, Aug. 13

Recreational swim:

1-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Friday, Aug. 13

1-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, through Sunday, Aug. 15
