Lawrence man suffers self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say
Police determined a Lawrence man had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday night while on a trail in southern Lawrence, said Sgt. Damon Thomas, a patrol shift supervisor. Initially, the man reported he had been shot by someone while jogging just before 11 p.m. Sunday in the area near the 2700 block of Louisiana Street. But he later changed his story, Thomas said. Murphree said Monday morning the man went to a local treatment center for a nonlife-threatening wound.
