Cage’s libel suit against Kathleen Turner settled

London – Nicolas Cage has settled a libel suit in a London court against Kathleen Turner, who falsely claimed in her autobiography that he had twice been arrested for drunken driving and had stolen a dog.

Neither of the stars attended the hearing at Britain’s High Court, where Turner’s lawyer, book publisher and the Daily Mail, which ran an excerpt, all apologized to Cage and offered to make a substantial donation to a charity of his choice.

Cage’s lawyer Simon Smith dismissed as “utter falsity” a section of Turner’s book “Send Yourself Roses,” describing the actors’ experience working together on the set of the movie “Peggy Sue Got Married” in 1986.

In the passage Turner, 53, said her co-star, 44, was “arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, for stealing a dog. He’d come across a Chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket.”

DiCaprio buys condo that’s eco-friendly

New York – Every time he comes home, Leonardo DiCaprio is practicing what he preaches.

The environmentally conscious actor has bought an apartment in Riverhouse, an eco-friendly building overlooking the Hudson River.

The purchase was confirmed on Friday by Christopher Daly, president of Sheldrake Organization, the developer of the Battery Park City complex. Occupancy is slated for this summer.

The 264-unit condominium glass tower overlooks the river and a park, and boasts low emission paints, a 24-hour fresh filtered air system, a water treatment facility and rotating solar panels.

UK may let Snoop Dogg into country after all

London – Britain is appealing a court’s decision to allow Snoop Dogg into the country, the Border Agency said Friday.

He was barred from Britain after he was arrested on charges of violent disorder at London’s Heathrow Airport in 2006. But the hip-hop heavyweight successfully appealed the ban and received entry clearance from an asylum and immigration tribunal in January.

The Border Agency said Friday it would challenge the ruling at a hearing next week.

In March 2007, Snoop Dogg (real name: Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.) was forced to cancel a tour of Britain with fellow rap icon Sean “Diddy” Combs after authorities denied him a visa.
