Participants in Art Tougeau’s 26th annual parade check out the collection of vehicles before the start of the parade Saturday, May 24, 2025, in downtown Lawrence.

Lawrence’s annual “wheeled art” parade, Art Tougeau, is inviting everyone on Saturday to bring anything that rolls – whether that’s a skateboard, a car or something weirder.

Art Tougeau started in 1997, and it’s been a way to celebrate “creativity and ingenuity with some good, clean fun on wheels,” according to its website. The parade will start at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St., go from 11th and Massachusetts St. to Seventh and Massachusetts St., and then go back to the Arts Center.

There will also be a pre-parade street party from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 22, on the portion of 10th Street between Massachusetts and New Hampshire streets.

Friday’s event will feature live music, activities and offer a preview of the art cars that will be on display at the parade the following day.

Interested participants can register their entry at https://arttougeau.org/. People can also register at the parade on the day of the event. On Saturday, participants will meet in front of the Lawrence Arts Center at 10:30 a.m.
