No rain expected until the weekend
Thick clouds were covering Lawrence this morning. But they aren’t expected to bring much rain to the area, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
“I think the only potential to get wet will maybe be a few sprinkles this morning and maybe some light drizzle,” Schack said.

Clouds will hang around most of the the day, but some sunshine will break through later this afternoon, she said.
“We’re heading up to 70 degrees for a high today,” she said. Winds will be from the northwest at 5-10 mph. The average high temperature for this date is 82 degrees. The record high was 103 degrees, set in 1956.
At 7:15 a.m., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 61 degrees, the humidity was 87 percent and winds were out of the north-northwest at 8 mph.
The average low temperature for this date is 61degrees. The record low was 41 degrees, set in 1940.
Tonight the temperature will drop to 50 degrees by early Wednesday morning and north winds 3 to 8 mph, Schack said.
Wednesday’s high will reach only 79 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said.
Thursday’s morning temperature will be 54 degrees, with Thursday’s high climbing to 84 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said.
She said the next chance for rain is Saturday night and again on Sunday night.
