KU’s Lawrence campus closed until at least noon today due to power outages

The University of Kansas’ Lawrence campus is closed until at least noon today due to widespread power outages, a university officials announced Monday morning.

Thunderstorms rolled through the Lawrence area on Monday morning.

KU officials said all classes scheduled for Monday morning had been cancelled at the Lawrence campus. KU’s Edwards Campus in Johnson County remains open.

An additional update will be provided at 10:30 a.m. regarding whether the Lawrence campus will reopen at noon.

As of about 8 a.m. on Monday, Evergy was reporting 61 power outages that had impacted about 2,100 customers in the Lawrence area.
