Adios, amigos

Well, it's been one of the worst-kept secrets of 2011, but it's time to officially announce that Friday, July 1, is my last day here at LJWorld.com.

I've accepted a position as a consultant at Digital Evolution Group in Overland Park.

Despite the 24/7 nature of this gig, I will miss interacting with you on a daily (and nightly and hourly) basis. I've enjoyed getting to know our online community, hearing your opinions and sharing laughs. And there were definitely some laughs. I've also learned a lot about the more somber details of community moderating. And as there are funny moments, there are serious ones, as well.

I'll continue moderating the site through Friday afternoon. If you need anything before then, I'm here for you. After that, Jonathan Kealing is your man.

Whitney, Best of luck in your new position. (I hope it was by choice!) Will you move there, or will you be a commuter? Just know that if you live here but decide to commute, you will have a LOT of company. Before you close the door this last time, consider leaving your pearls of wisdom that you have learned while here, inquiring minds want to know.

Finally, if you do ever miss it, I'm sure there will always be a chair for you to come back to as you know you're pretty popular here!

I wonder who is going to have the honor of being the last person to have a post removed by Whitney? Or who the last person Whitney disappears will be? That would have been a much better contest than the 100 degree contest.

Dang num it. I thought these were the Reincarnated coming back to die a quick death. Again. After looking throught their comment history, they are merely your run of the mill trolls.

"Well, you can do that until 5 p.m. Friday." Whit

They added another 30 minutes to your last day? That's what you get for hogging on the brownees.

May you go forth under the strength of heaven, under the light of sun, under the radiance of moon; May you go forth with the splendor of fire, with the speed of lightning, with the swiftness of wind; May you go forth supported by the depth of sea, by the stability of earth, by the firmness of rock; May you be surrounded and encircled, with the protection of the nine elements. Thanks Whitney

best of luck Half-Whit (and that's just my guess on your double secret nickname, not a slam against your intellect, I promise). Thanks for the tip on making brownies---I have now (mostly) mastered the fine art. Finn

Seeing how most everyone knew she was leaving... probably not, Bub.

I suggest "And My Name is Whitney" t-shirts for Casual Friday, Whit''s last day.

(And the streets of Lawrence will once again be safe for mustard-lovers!)

Boy, that article titled "Toothless Law" had me thinking they were going to pass a law against people having missing teeth. The cuzins would have been in big trouble. They are safe, for now.

0

The_Original_Bob 2 years, 9 months ago

In thirty years, when Whitney is a multi-media star and writes the first of four auto-biographies, I hope her two years at the LJW are at least mentioned in Chapter 2 of the first book.

Hey, maybe Whitney could make guest appearance and be the online monitor for a day every now and then. It would give JK a day off once in a while.

0

RoeDapple 2 years, 9 months ago

And with the lightest touch of her pinky finger the OTS goddess disapearededed another disrespectful subject of the blog! All hail Whitney!

0

rockchalker52 2 years, 9 months ago

Could JK at least use your avatar for a while to lessen the visual shock to my system?

0

LadyJ 2 years, 9 months ago

That was hilarious, glad I didn't miss it. Smitty needs to make a remark too.

0

Good Luck Whitney! You will do well wherever you go!
