What can the city of Lawrence and Kansas University do to be a safer place?
a few ideas to make Lawrence safer...
1. rubber sidewalks
2. deport everyone from topeka and kansas city
3. curfew... no one is allowed to leave thier homes, although mom's meatloaf is pretty dangerous

$4M road project moves forward
We have to stop this from happening. There is an endangered ant species living in the limestone formations along that stretch of road.

Mass. Street to close on Saturday if KU wins
Does the City plan to provide porta potties? There were people using the streets and sidewalks as a toliet after the 2008 final 4 games. The late game times means that businesses will be closed and there is no place to use the restroom. There will probably be close to 20,000 people on Mass street if they win the championship. Thats a lot of human waste to be wading through.

Downtown damage from Final Four celebration not too bad
I hope the city plans on providing "jonnie on the spots" on Mass Street for the after game celebrations. I was there in 2008 and all the businesses were closed. There was no place to go to use the rest room. There were guys urinating on the sidewalks. I don't know what the gals were doing, but I am sure more than a few were using the streets and sidewalks for a toliet as well. Since both games this weekend will be night time games I know the same situation will arise. Just in case the city doesn't have the foresight to plan for this, I already have my spot picked out so find your own. I also hope they aren't foolish enough to think that 2 will do the trick. There will probably be 20,000 people down there so better plan for 50 to 100 of them. Rock Chalk Jayhawks!

Statehouse Live: House Appropriations advances state employee pay cut; exempts support staff
Paycut for State workers in todays article. Yesterday there was an article saying they were considering increasing how much state workers have to contribute to KPERS.
Even though the KPERS increase isn't a paycut it means you will be taking home less, so it is effectively a paycut. Combine this with rising food/gas prices and well you do the math....
