I only drink my store brand bottled water for 79 cents/ltr.

broadpaw 4 years, 4 months ago

wow...seriously? voting F here to me means that you'd rather drink untreated river water. believe me, you wouldn't.

mr_right_wing 4 years, 4 months ago

It also begs the question...wny are you not out digging your own well??

Stuart Evans 4 years, 4 months ago

no, voting F here means that we have a higher standard for the water we drink and this crap isn't cutting it. Emporia has incredible water and it's pulled from a river I wouldn't swim in.

Xwards 4 years, 4 months ago

We live near the downtown water plant and our water right out of the tap tastes funny. The filter in the refrigerator takes the bad taste out though.

grammaddy 4 years, 4 months ago

Buy a Britta or Pur water filtering pitcher. I haven't used straight tap water for anything but laundry and bathing in almost 10 years. And you can use it to fill your water bottles back up. I hate the thought of so many plastic bottles finding their way to our landfills.

mr_right_wing 4 years, 4 months ago

Personally I think that's the whole point of the poll. Increase advertising from clients like Culligan, Brita, Lindyspring, etc.

LJW may have even had a hand at adding algae to Clinton Lake!!

Conspiracy.

Only people in Lecompton can vote "F".

I gave Lawrence water a C.

It's better than Topeka's, and MUCH better than Salina's. And darn near infinitely better than Amherst's, which is about the worst allegedly potable water I've suffered with for a week.

On the other hand, Seattle's is much, much better. Better than most bottled water.

Johnna Feugate 4 years, 4 months ago

I gave Lawrence water an A. I've drank alot of nasty tap water, for example: Pittsburg, KS - water tastes (and smells) like Sulfur. LaCygne, KS - water tastes (and smells) like Fish (comes right out of the river!)

whoswho 4 years, 4 months ago

I think Lawrence water is pretty good. Has anyone ever tasted Eudora water? That is NASTY!! It's so gross and has a lot of white particles that float around in it. Some parts of that towns tap water smells and taste like dirt.. Lawrence is way better.

Ricky_Vaughn 4 years, 4 months ago

I've heard that you need advanced filtration systems in Eudora...

One of my cuzins had a house there and he said that stalagtites of lime would form under his faucet!

Jennifer Alexander 4 years, 4 months ago

The BEST tap water I have ever tasted was in New York City/The Bronx. No joke. Seems ironic, but it was tasteless, clean, oderless and colorless. It was tasty!

Lawrence water is pretty decent usually. The past couple of months its been crappy!

broadpaw 4 years, 4 months ago

I believe it. NYC has a highly protected watershed upstate where they draw their water from. It's very clean even before they treat it. But then again that city has got a municipal budget to gawk at.

Graczyk 4 years, 4 months ago

I think it tastes a little like corn and dirt, but isn't really that bad. The water in the last town I lived in tasted like blood because of the iron and other minerals. I guess it's all relative.

Practicality 4 years, 4 months ago

Obviously people have not spent much time in other countries.

broadpaw 4 years, 4 months ago

Exactly. We might pay a lot here and sometimes it's going to taste funny, but we don't have to worry about diseases in our water.

somedude20 4 years, 4 months ago

When the city charges as much as it does, the water had better taste great, no excuses. The water here makes Camp Lejeune water taste like honey (remember Lejeune water was mixed with volatile organic compounds known as PCE (Tetrachloroethylene aka Perchloroethylene), TCE (Trichloroethylene), DCE (Dichloroethylene), Vinyl Chloride and BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene).

lgreen17 4 years, 4 months ago

agreed. The water bill is outrageous.

jonas_opines 4 years, 4 months ago

I'm gonna go with D. It really tastes okay, for water, but to get the higher grades it would really need to taste a little more like beer.

slhix02 4 years, 4 months ago

Too much chlorine (or something like it).

persevering_gal 4 years, 4 months ago

C - I have never seen so much lead in water before. Of course that can be due to old pipes, but the chlorine level is a little too high for me.

mr_right_wing 4 years, 4 months ago

But chlorine is a disinfectant! Keeps all your innards clean! Who knows how much $$ you may have saved on antibiotics because your insides are already bleachy clean!

;o)

The water in Hutchinson has sea monkeys in it

Jshui 4 years, 4 months ago

hey, try Honolulu for a fish taste. I live @ Pleasant grove and the water here is way good. brah

Reuben Turner 4 years, 4 months ago

i live in lawrence and the water is good to me.

Rich Rodgers 4 years, 4 months ago

Normally I keep plenty of chilled tap water in glass bottles in my fridge. One of the bottles was filled last week and another has water from this week. The old one I just finished off. Refreshing and fine. Buying bottled would be throwing away money, not that I care what you do with your money (but I see no reason to use more plastic bottle). But anyway, the bottle that was filled recently is utterly undrinkable. It tastes like dirt tea. Like I scooped a cup of dirt from my planter and mixed briskly. I would only drink it if I were in danger of dehydrating. I have never in my life tasted water this bad in a home. Talk about bringing down property values. Who would want to live somewhere with this sort of water?

I expect it to be a short term thing...off to buy some bottled water.
