I plan on buying a handmade gift.
I am all for giving something useful and practical. Nothing I could make would fall into that catagory. As for crafty type stuff.... most of that gets thrown in a closet somewhere causing clutter. Go out, buy something useful that's AMERICAN MADE for someone this Christmas (everyone could use a nice pair of jeans or a sweatshirt... www.unionlabel.com). I will say that I am lucky to have a wife who would kick my ass if I bought her some expensive jewelry. Hell, I get admonished for buying flowers (How Much Did Those Cost?!?!).
the question doesn't say who made the gift, because I bought things from the maple leaf festival, which are obviously handmade, and I am giving them to my moms. Last year, I bought wooden picture frames, painted, and decorated them all differently, and then gave them to relatives with my kids' pictures. I had fun and the relatives liked them. Hubby calls me cheap, though, oh well
It's not a matter of "would you consider"--I do that as much as possible, in general. Just wish I had time to make more of my gifts.
