The Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches has named Lawrence High junior catcher Drew Green the 2013 Player of the Year.

Green’s regular-season numbers — the only ones considered in the selection process — were impressive. He hit .439 for the Lions, with 29 hits, six triples, four home runs and 29 RBI.

Green and 2013 KABC Pitcher of the Year Zach Engelken, of Blue Valley West, will be awarded with plaques for their accomplishments before the start of the 2013 KABC All-Star Game, on June 5, in Manhattan.
