- A 20-year-old former Ottawa man has been sentenced to two years in prison for his part in a Jan. 10 robbery in Lawrence. Dustin Jamal Burnett, the last of four defendants to be convicted in the case, was sentenced Monday in Douglas County Court after pleading no contest in February, as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, to one count each of robbery and attempted robbery.
- A 28-year-old man arrested after a Dec. 25 high-speed motorcycle chase has pleaded guilty in Douglas County Court to felony possession of drugs and stolen property. Dakota Dale McDaniel, address unknown, pleaded guilty on Feb. 25 to the two charges, while prosecutors dropped several traffic offenses and a gun charge as part of plea agreement.
- A 46-year-old Linwood man faces a federal gun charge of illegally possessing two pistols and ammunition after a felony conviction, according to a news release Friday from the office of Barry Grissom, U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas. Ryan Ridens allegedly was caught with the guns in Kansas City, Kan., in March. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
