Power restored, no life-threatening injuries, in Wednesday night accident near Eudora

? Power has been restored in Eudora after an injury accident near the intersection of Kansas Highway 10 and Church Street caused a widespread power outage there Wednesday night.

Eudora police and fire crews responded to the accident about 10 p.m. Wednesday, after a Volkswagen Bug left the roadway, rolled over, and struck a utility pole, said Eudora Police Chief Bill Edwards. The driver was eastbound on K-10 and swerved to avoid a dresser that had fallen off of another vehicle, Edwards said.

The driver of the vehicle suffered a broken hand, as well as cuts and abrasions, Edwards said. Eastbound and westbound lanes of K-10 were temporarily closed.

The accident caused power outages across Eudora Wednesday night because of the damaged utility equipment, according to a Westar Energy spokeswoman. Power was restored throughout the city about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
