LHS girls upend T-West

February 14, 2013

— Jolona Shield scored 17 points and made three steals, and Kylie Seaman had 15 points and six assists to help Lawrence High claim a 61-45 girls basketball victory over Topeka West on Wednesday night.

The Lions broke a eight-game losing streak and improved to 3-14.

“It felt great to win tonight,” LHS coach Nick Wood said. “The girls have battled all year long, not letting our win-loss record affect our energy. They definitely deserved this one.”

Anna Wright added eight points, Makayla Bell and Kionna Coleman scored six points apiece, and Bri Anderson pulled down six rebounds for the Lions, who forced 18 turnovers.

The Lions will entertain Olathe East on Friday.

Not sure you can "upend" a team with the same 2-14 record. And 55 called fouls in the game, with 64 free throws shot?! Good grief. Doesn't sound like there was too much offense actually ran
