International prize-winning organist to perform at Bales

An international prize-winning concert organist will perform at Kansas University during her first U.S. tour.

Russian native and Tariverdiev International Organ Competition winner Daria Burlak will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Bales Organ Recital Hall, 1600 Stewart Ave. Tickets are $12, or $5 for seniors. Students get in free. For more information call 864-2787 or go online to lied.ku.edu.

The program will feature famous works of well-known composers plus rarely performed compositions by Jeanne Demessieux and Charles Tournemire. Burlak trained in Moscow and at the Cologne (Germany) Conservatory of Music and has played piano and organ at international festivals and recitals across Europe. She has been praised for her organ technique and spirited interpretations.
