Film festival explores women as leaders

An upcoming film festival will highlight women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by female filmmakers.

Lunafest is scheduled for April 14 at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. There will be a reception at 6 p.m. and introductory speakers at 6:30 p.m., with screenings beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets, available at the Liberty Hall box office the day of the event, are $10, or $7 for students with ID.

Films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.

Proceeds will benefit GaDuGi SafeCenter, Willow Domestic Violence Center, the Kansas Coalition against Sexual and Domestic Violence and the Breast Cancer Fund. The event was created by Luna women’s nutrition bars.
