An 18-year-old Lawrence man, arrested Friday, was charged in Douglas County District Court Monday with eight counts stemming from a string of home burglaries in July.

Cody A. Barnes was charged with four counts of aggravated burglary and four counts of theft for home burglaries on the following dates:

• July 12 in the 1000 block of E. 24th Street.

• July 15 in the 3900 block of W. 10th Place.

• July 19 in the 400 block of Vine Drive.

• July 29 in the 1100 block of Andover Street.

Barnes — who was also charged with automobile burglary and criminal use of a financial card — was arrested Friday after Lawrence police issued a news release asking for public assistance in locating Barnes. Barnes is a co-defendant in the home burglary cases, along with Ronnie E. Taylor, 18, and Markcus T. Sanders, 18. Both Taylor and Sanders were charged last week.
