Lions’ Grace Morgan first at Heights

? Lawrence High’s Grace Morgan won the girls individual championship in the Shawnee Heights Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Lake Shawnee.

The LHS girls placed second, and the Lions’ boys were fourth in the team standings.

Morgan won in a time of 15:18.24, and LHS teammates Claire Sanner and Emily McEntire were fourth and fifth, respectively. Sanner finished in 16:05.83, McEntire in 16:26.52. Riley Shook was 17th in 17:13.54.

Thomas Ezell led the LHS boys with a 17th-place time of 18:37.45, followed by Tom Schraad in 18th in 18:38.33 and Adam Edmonds in 10th in 18:43.88.

Washburn Rural edged LHS for the girls team title, 48 points to 49.

Washburn Rural also won the six-team boys race with 17 points, followed by Blue Valley Northwest (41), Topeka High (91) and Lawrence (93).
