LHS tennis fourth at Topeka

? Lawrence High’s girls tennis team took fourth place, and none of its singles players or doubles teams finished lower than fifth in their brackets Wednesday at the eight-team Topeka Invitational.

The Lions’ No. 2 singles player, sophomore Kendall Pritchard, and their No. 2 doubles team of senior Lily Abromeit and junior Brooke Braman placed third with 3-1 records.

LHS junior Whitney Simons went 2-2 for fourth place in No. 1 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Abby Gillam and Zoe Shneider finished 2-2 and placed fifth.

Lawrence coach Chris Marshall said all of the players rebounded at certain points and learned from their mistakes.

“It was a good day,” the coach said. “Everyone, at times, played some really good tennis.”
