Ledbetter lecture postponed

The lecture by equal-pay advocate Lilly Ledbetter at Kansas University will be postponed because of travel complications caused by Superstorm Sandy on the East Coast.

The talk, which had been scheduled for Thursday, now is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in Woodruff Auditorium at the Kansas Union.

Ledbetter was unable to travel to the area this week because of the storm, said Kathy Rose-Mockry, program director for the KU Emily Taylor Center for Women and Gender Equity. Organizers were scrambling Wednesday to get the word out about the change, she said.

Ledbetter, the namesake of the 2009 Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, is speaking as part of the Jana Mackey Distinguished Lecture Series. The series honors Mackey, a KU law student and women’s-rights advocate who was killed in 2008 by a former boyfriend.
