The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury accident at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and County Road 460, said Undersheriff Steve Hornberger.
A vehicle that was westbound on County Road 460 had stopped at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the other vehicle, which was traveling north on U.S. 59, and they struck each other.
The driver of the vehicle on County Road 460 was Phillip Johnston, 59, of Kansas City, Kan. He was uninjured. The other vehicle was driven by Julie Taylor, 47, of Baldwin City.
A passenger in her vehicle, Roger Taylor, 51, of Baldwin City, was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, Hornberger said.
Hornberger said officers responded to another injury accident about 90 minutes earlier at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, near the intersection of North 1200 Road and East 1200 Road.
A vehicle driven by Vicki Rogg, 71, of Lawrence, was westbound on North 1200 Road and was stopped while waiting to turn left onto East 1200 Road. A second vehicle, driven by Jason Ward, 37, of Overland Park, rear-ended the first vehicle. Rogg was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, where she was later released. Ward also suffered minor injuries but was not transported, Hornberger said.
