Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical workers extinguished an item that was on fire and apparently thrown from a vehicle about 8 a.m. Wednesday near Clinton Parkway and Atchison Avenue.

Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman, said a witness reported the item appeared to be a shirt and was thrown from a small red vehicle that had turned from Clinton Parkway north onto Atchison Avenue. The witness reported several people were inside the vehicle as it left the area.
