Lawrence man, 19, sentenced to jail term, probation in two cases

Douglas County District Court Judge Sally Pokorny sentenced Brandon M. Marcure, 19, Lawrence, to 60 days in jail and a year probation for convictions stemming from two incidents earlier this year.

In April, Marcure pleaded guilty to criminal restraint, misdemeanor battery and intimidation of a witness following a Jan. 17 incident at an apartment in the 4500 block of Wimbledon Drive.

Marcure originally was charged with aggravated battery for the incident involving a woman he once had a relationship with. He also pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated escape from custody after a Feb. 1 incident outside Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Pokorny departed from the sentencing guidelines in the case, which called for prison time for the escape from custody conviction. However, if Marcure’s probation is revoked, he could face up to two years imprisonment.
