Run to Remember 5K to benefit families of fallen law enforcement officers

The inaugural Run to Remember 5K to benefit the Ride4Cops fund, which supports families of fallen law enforcement officers, and the Lawrence-Douglas County Valor-Public Safety Awards is Sunday in west Lawrence.

Rid4Cops is an initiative started by Lawrence resident Harry Herington, NIC Inc. CEO and a former law enforcement officer. Registration for the run is $25 through Saturday and $30 at the packet pickup and on race day.

The 5K begins 7:30 a.m. Sunday at 4820 Bob Billings Parkway, the Lawrence Police Department’s Investigations and Training Center.

Benefits will support the Kansas Chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors, or COPS, and the valor awards, a Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and NIC-sponsored program that offers scholarships to children of officers and first responders recognized for heroic acts in Douglas County.

More information about the run and registration is available online at www.ride4cops.com.
