Douglas County Sheriff’s officers arrested a 49-year-old rural Lawrence man on suspicion of rape on Saturday.

An adult woman reported that she was raped about 8 p.m. Saturday at a home south of Lawrence, according to Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Lewis. The suspect and victim are related, and officials believe the suspect had been using alcohol, Lewis said.

The man appeared in Douglas County District Court on Monday, and was charged with one count of rape. His bond was set at $100,000, and he is next scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
