Lawrence man, 32, arrested on battery charge after domestic disturbance

A 32-year-old Lawrence man was arrested early Friday on aggravated battery and other charges after a woman was injured in a domestic incident in the 2500 block of Redbud Drive.

Douglas County prosecutors later filed charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and criminal restraint against William D. Glover Jr., according to court records.

Kim Murphree, a Lawrence police spokeswoman, said the female victim was injured and taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by a friend where officers interviewed her. Murphree said there was a verbal argument that became physical and the victim alleged she was pushed, choked and restrained from leaving the residence. The suspect was arrested about 3 a.m. Friday.

According to the charges, prosecutors accuse Glover of using a knife during the incident. A judge set his bond at $8,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the victim if he gets out of jail. His next hearing is scheduled for Monday.
