Second woman charged in Burrito King altercation

Douglas County prosecutors have charged a second Lawrence woman in connection with a Jan. 1 battery that occurred in the drive-thru lane at Burrito King, 900 Ill., early on New Year’s Day. Kristin E. Silva, 29, appeared in court Friday on an aggravated battery charge in which she’s accused of injuring another Lawrence woman.

Prosecutors already charged another Lawrence woman, April Ann Jones, 24, with aggravated battery after she was arrested hours after the altercation, but police said they did not immediately find the second suspect. The victim, a 31-year-old Lawrence woman, alleged the fight began when her vehicle rolled and struck the vehicle in front of her. She alleged two women got out of their vehicle and began hitting her. The victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment. Silva’s next hearing is March 13. Jones’ hearing is March 27.
