A 49-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested on suspicion of arson in the 1500 block of Lynch Court Wednesday night, according to jail records. As of Wednesday night, she was in custody without bond.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical were called a small fire in the kitchen of an apartment Wednesday afternoon in the 1500 block of Lynch Court, near Seventh and Florida streets. Division Chief Joe Hoelscher said the fire about 4:30 p.m. caused no damage and no injuries.

Another small fire caused $2,000 damage to the siding on a house Wednesday morning in the 1500 block of West Third Street. Hoelscher said crews determined leaves outside the front door caught fire about 10:30 a.m. after smoking materials were improperly discarded. No one was injured, and the residents won’t be displaced, he said.
