Woman pleads no contest in robbery
Melanie Spanky Faye Brooks, a 24-year-old rural Eudora woman, is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 8 for crimes connected with a March 5 robbery at the Days Inn, 730 Iowa.
Cheryl Wright, a district attorney’s spokeswoman, said Brooks recently pleaded no contest to counts of aggravated robbery and criminal threat.
According to police reports at the time, a 32-year-old Lawrence man alleged he was robbed at knifepoint of about $1,500 in cash and other items early March 5. The victim reported that several people participated in the robbery after they had been socializing at the motel, according to police.
