53-year-old Lawrence man charged with possessing child pornography

A federal grand jury in Kansas City, Kan., has indicted a 53-year-old Lawrence man on two child pornography charges, according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s Office.

The man faces one count of receiving and distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography. Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred in January and February of 2010 in Douglas County.

According to court records, Lawrence police seized four computers from the man on Feb. 23, 2010. The man is accused of using a computer to distribute visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. In the second count, he’s accused of possessing child pornography.

The Journal-World generally does not identify sex crime suspects unless they are convicted.
