Man threatens former employer with shovel

Eudora police arrested a 39-year-old Lawrence man Tuesday evening on suspicion of aggravated battery and aggravated assault after he was accused of threatening his former employer with a shovel. Sgt. Chris Casagrande, a Eudora police spokesman, said the incident was in the 1500 block of Stevens Road. No one was injured. The suspect was also accused of damaging the victim’s property. The suspect was booked into jail about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, but Douglas County prosecutors did not file charges in the case Wednesday and requested further information, said Cheryl Wright, a district attorney’s office spokeswoman. The suspect was released from jail. The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects unless they are formally charged.
