Lions football trio get All-Star invites

June 1, 2012

When some of the best seniors the Metro has to offer compete Thursday, June 14 at the Country Mart Kansas vs. Missouri High School Football All-Star Game, three Lawrence High Lions will be suiting up for the Sunflower State.

The Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association’s all-star game, set for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Blue Valley District Stadium, in Stillwell, will feature LHS kicker Anthony Rosen, offensive lineman Sean Thomas and defensive back Anthony Buffalomeat.

Zach Callahan, of Mill Valley, will play defensive tackle for the Kansas team.

Olathe South coach Jeff Gourley will lead Kansas against Missouri and coach Rob Bowers, of Richmond.

Kansas leads the all-time series, 11-8, with one rainout. Missouri won last year’s game, 21-13, in Belton, Mo.

The game will be televised live on Metro Sports. Tickets are $8 for adults and may be purchased in advance online at www.kcprepfootball.org.
