Ottawa man, 23, pleads guilty in Lawrence robbery case

A 23-year-old Ottawa man pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of robbery for his role in a Jan. 10 robbery at a Lawrence apartment.

Dallas Jay Ambler now faces an Oct. 1 sentencing in the case, according to Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson’s office.

Prosecutors in February had originally charged him with one count of aggravated robbery, three counts of robbery and four counts of kidnapping. A co-defendant, Colby Blaine Simon, 19, of Ottawa, has a September trial scheduled in the case.

Four victims testified earlier this year and accused Simon and three other men they did not know of robbing them of several items, including marijuana, in the 1700 block of West 19th Street.
