Two separate injury accidents occurred Thursday afternoon on the Kansas Turnpike near Lawrence.
At 12:27 p.m., Shawn M. Wadkins, 49, of Topeka, was avoiding another vehicle while headed west near the Eudora and Tonganoxie interchange when he lost control of his 2001 Volvo truck and went into trees off the highway. Wadkins wore a seat belt, but he suffered injuries in the crash.
About 90 minutes later three miles west of the West Lawrence exit, Tiffany Ann Deherrera, 22, also of Topeka, was injured when she turned off her vehicle’s cruise control, causing her car to shake. She tapped the brakes and spun out, striking a post off the road in her 2001 Mercedes car.
Deherrera and a passenger, 15-year-old Jordan Deherrera, both wore seat belts but suffered injuries in the crash.
