A 25-year-old Eudora man pleaded guilty to four charges Monday in connection with a March incident at the Days Inn, 730 Iowa.
Court personnel said Aaron Jacob Coates entered the pleas to conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, aggravated assault, felony theft and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Prosecutors in April initially filed an aggravated robbery charge against Coates and accused him of using a knife to participate in a robbery of about $1,500 from a 32-year-old man on March 5. The man testified at an April preliminary hearing that Coates had accused him of wearing a wire for law enforcement and that he was struck in the face later when another co-defendant, Melanie Spanky Faye Brooks, 24, took money from him.
Defense attorney Hatem Chahine said the gun charge was added from a separate case that was dismissed Monday.
District Judge Michael Malone is scheduled to sentence Coates Aug. 10.

Someone else should be charged with giving a daughter a name such as hers!

Pretty sure the "Spanky" is a nickname. Or an a.k.a.

Whatever it is, I've noticed that ol' Spanky appears quite regularly on the DgCo Sheriff's Office list of arrests.

Hatem, you are defending a total loser this time. Spanky needs about 7 years of Grey bar hotel time.
