Olathe Fire Department’s bomb disposal unit responds to call from Lawrence resident

At 6 p.m. Monday, a resident in the 3100 block of Longhorn Drive contacted the Olathe Fire Department’s bomb disposal unit to assist in disposing of gunpowder and other reloading supplies. The supplies had possibly become unstable because of a previous fire in the residence, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence police spokesman. McKinley said Lawrence officers assisted the Olathe department during the response.
