A Saturday evening fire destroyed a mobile home at 1908 E. 19th St. and killed a small dog, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical officials said. No one was hurt in the fire, which began about 5 p.m. and was under control by 6 p.m.

The single occupant of the home is staying with friends, and the Red Cross has been contacted to assist with recovery, Division Chief Doug Green said.

Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire.
